National Tree Week 2012
5 - 9 March 2012

‘Crainn – Inné, Inniu, Amárach’
‘Trees – Our Past, Our Present, Our Future’

National Tree Week is an annual, week-long festival celebrating all positive aspects of trees in our lives and environment.

During National Tree Week we invite the oldest class from your school to come and celebrate our remarkable heritage of trees and woodlands and to recognise the significance of trees and forests as a living link to our past, as an enjoyable, life-enhancing asset in the present, and as a wise investment in our future.

Agenda:
Tree Trail

Follow our tree trail and discover the variety of native and non-native trees. Some of these trees were planted by Mitchell Henry in the 1860s and originate from all over the world. Other trees are native to Ireland and are associated with folklore and magic.

Tree Planting

Each school will be invited to plant a native tree sapling on the grounds of Kylemore Abbey contributing to the recreation of "An Choill Mhór". Each student will receive a certificate with details of the tree planted by the class.

Refreshments

Tree planting can be thirsty business. Students are invited to Mitchell’s café for complimentary rice crispy buns and soft drink.
We estimate the tree trail and tree planting will take approximately an hour followed by refreshments. We are happy to work around times which suit your school for pick up and drop off times etc.

To book your class for our National Tree Week event, please contact Brid Connell, Sales and Marketing Manager at Kylemore Abbey to discuss suitable time and date etc. brid@kylemoretourism.ie tel: 087 2113804

National Tree Week is orgained by the Tree Council of Ireland. Trees are sponsored by Coillte.
