Guided Mountain Hikes
From May to September, discover the hidden trails of Kylemore Abbey Estate on one of Connemara's most spectacular mountain hikes.
Hike the re-discovered mountain trails on the Kylemore Estate with our trained guide. The hiking trails date back to when Mitchell Henry first developed the estate in the late 1800s. The Henry family enjoyed these invigorating hikes with their friends and family and used them when hunting in the hills.
The hiking trails will take you through the old oak forest, to highpoints with views over the Kylemore Valley, Connemara mountains, lakes and all the way to the Atlantic Ocean.
Experience the outdoors, beautiful scenery and history of the estate and Connemara.
Along the hike your guide will point out interesting and hidden features of the estate along old paths. Of course you will be given plenty of photo opportunities!

Please note:
- Hill walking and hiking is not devoid of risk. The paths have sections of loose stones and depending on the weather may be slippery. The paths cross wet boggy ground, small streams and steep ground as the paths reaches heights of 300m above the abbey.
- To minimize the risk ensure you have appropriate hiking footwear, rain gear, extra warm clothes and/or sunscreen and a small bottle water with you.
- Participants must be aged 14 years and over. Participants under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult.
- Maximum group size = 12 people.
As group sizes are limited advance booking is advised.
